With no national medical body to advocate for doctors and patients, ONZ specifically addresses ophthalmology’s needs. In a deregulated private health insurance sector, ONZ helps manage the attempt to shift costs from insurers to providers. Which can impact on providers and can lead to unrealistic expectations for new services and technology. The public health system also has gaps in non-urgent treatments, increasing demand for private care.
